SPECTACULAR  EGYPT FAMWEDNESDAY - DAY 1 - WELCOME TO CAIRO!

Welcome to the buzzing metropolis that is modern day Cairo! Situated on the banks of the Nile, this exciting capital city offers all that a tourist could desire - ancient monuments and modern amenities. You will be met by our English speaking representative and transferred to your hotel.

Overnight: Cairo hotel.


THURSDAY - DAY 2 - CAIRO: (BL)

Breakfast at the hotel and then we’re off to explore the mysteries of the Pyramids. Learn how and why the ancient Egyptians constructed these amazing burial monuments, the only remaining Seventh Wonder of the World. You will have free time to enter a pyramid. (Entrance fee not included.) See the exciting Sphinx and the Temple of the Valley.

In the afternoon, join an optional visit to the Egyptian Museum to view its extensive collection of ancient artifacts. See the Treasures of Tutankhamon and understand the development of Egypt’s culture and art through the ages. Return to your hotel for the night.

FRIDAY - DAY 3 - CAIRO - ASWAN - CRUISE (BLD)

Today you will fly from Cairo to Aswan, capital of Nubia. Drive through the city, stopping at the Granite Quarry to learn how the Egyptians cut the stone to create the obelisks. Arrive at your five star Nile cruise vessel in time for lunch on board. In the afternoon, sail in an old-fashioned felucca among the Nile Cataracts and Elephantine Island, admiring the scenery that inspired Agatha Christie’s novel, “Death on the Nile.”

Overnight: Aswan, on board the cruise boat.


SATURDAY - DAY 4 - CRUISE (BLD)

In the early morning, possibility to drive south to Abu Simbel (Rate not included.) Discover the story of Ramses II and his queen Nefertari. See the historic Temples saved by UNESCO from the rising waters of the lake and the 30 meter high statues that celebrate victory in the battle of Kadesh.

On the way back to the cruiser, stop to visit the High Dam in Aswan. Lunch on board as you sail to Kom Ombo. See the unique design of the temples, with their halls and sanctuaries duplicated to honor the gods Haroeris and Sobek. Then visit the collection of mummified crocodiles in their specialized museum and the Nilometer used to measure the river’s depth. Sail on to Edfu.

Overnight: Edfu, on board the cruise boat.


SUNDAY - DAY 5 - CRUISE (BLD)

A short ride takes you to the Temple of Horus, one of the best preserved shrines in Egypt. The inscriptions on the walls of this temple provide insight into the language, myths and religion of the Hellenistic period of Egypt. Sail to the lock at Esna and observe how it moves boats from one level of the river to another.

Overnight: Esna, on board the cruise boat.


MONDAY - Day 6 - CRUISE - LUXOR: (B)

Today you will explore the magnificent Thebes, starting with the Valleys of the Kings and of the Queens, made famous by Howard Carter’s discovery of the tomb of Tutankhamon. See the brightly colored hieroglyphics, preserved from the sun in these underground chambers. Proceed to Hatshepsut’s Temple with its colonnaded terraces and long ramps, surrounded by steep cliffs, and the Colossi of Memnon, the tall statues of the guardians of the necropolis. Check out of the cruise and transfer to a hotel in Luxor. (Optional return to Karnak Temple for a Sound & Light show).

TUESDAY - DAY 7 LUXOR - CAIRO (B)

Today you will visit Karnak Temple, a vast array of temples, chapels, pylons and a sacred lake. Thirty pharaohs contributed to the construction of this massive temple over the ages. You will also see Luxor Temple, where Alexander the Great proclaimed himself King of Egypt. Then transfer to the airport for your flight back to Cairo. (Optional visit to the historic Citadel of Saladin, with its beautiful Alabaster Mosque, and to the Khan El Khalili bazaar, available at additional cost.)

WEDNESDAY - DAY 8 - DEPARTURE (B)

After breakfast at your hotel, transfer to the airport for your homeward flight.

THURSDAY - DAY 2 - CAIRO (BL)

This morning you will visit the Great Pyramids and the Sphinx in Giza, the only remaining Seventh Wonder of the Ancient World. After lunch at a local restaurant, admire the extensive collection of Egyptian antiquities at the Egyptian Museum, including the golden Treasures of Tutankhamon.

FRIDAY - DAY 3 - CAIRO - ASWAN - CRUISE (BLD)

Today you will fly to Aswan, Nubia’s capital, where you will board your five star Nile cruise vessel in time for lunch on board. In the afternoon, take a gentle sail in a traditional felucca among the Nile Cataracts and Elephantine Island.

Overnight: Aswan on board the cruise boat.


SATURDAY - DAY 4 - CRUISE (BLD)

(Optional early morning visit to the beautiful Philae Temple. Entry fee not included.) Sail to Kom Ombo and see the twin Temples, in which all the sanctuaries, halls and rooms are duplicated to honor the gods Haroeris and Sobek. See the collection of mummified crocodiles in their specialized museum. Sail on to Edfu and dock for the night.

Overnight: Edfu on board the cruise boat.


SUNDAY - DAY 5 - CRUISE (BLD)

A short ride in a horse drawn carriage brings you through the town of Edfu to the Temple of Horus, best preserved shrine on the Nile. Sail on to Esna and observe how the lock moves boats from one level of the river to another.

Overnight: Esna on board the cruise boat.


MONDAY - DAY 6 - CRUISE - HURGHADA (B)

Sail to Luxor and cross the Nile to visit the magnificent Thebes. See the Valleys of the Kings and of the Queens, made famous by Howard Carter’s discovery of the tomb of Tutankhamon. Admire the colonnaded terraces and long ramps of the funerary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, and see the Colossi of Memnon, the two statues that guard the necropolis. Return to the East Bank and visit Karnak Temple, a vast array of temples, chapels and pylons with a sacred lake. Thirty pharaohs built this great Temple over the centuries. Then drive to Hurghada on the Red Sea, and check into your resort hotel.

TUESDAY - DAY 7 - HURGHADA (BLD)

Day of leisure to enjoy the beach. Snorkeling, sunbathing, sailing in a glass bottomed boat - all are available in this beautiful resort.

MONDAY - DAY 8 - HURGHADA - CAIRO (B)

Transfer to the airport for your flight back to Cairo. (Optional visit to the historic Citadel of Saladin, with its beautiful Alabaster Mosque, and to the Khan El Khalili bazaar, available at additional cost.)


TUESDAY - DAY 9 - DEPARTURE: (B)

After breakfast at your hotel , transfer to the airport for your homeward flight.
